Women’s Health Fit Night Out – 12 August 2017

Working out for an hour at a time might sound like the logical and normal thing to do for most us. So what would you say to working out on a Saturday afternoon for four hours? Crazy right? On 12 August 2017, 3 000 women gathered at Monte Casino in Fourways, Johannesburg for a crazy, but amazing afternoon of workouts.

Trying to get into the venue and finding parking was a struggle, but considering the number of women attending the Women’s Health Fit Night Out, not to mention the normal visitors to Monte Casino, it was understandable. That however was where the craziness ended and the fun began.

After registration, we were rewarded with a to die for goodie bag, which included a vest and a pair leggings. Once kitted out in our matching outfits, well most of the participants, the crowd looked gorgeous! Once dressed, we all found a spot and were ready for action.

The afternoon started with the Women’s Health SA team welcoming us.

A good workout starts with stretching, obviously. As soon as our muscles were loosened up, the 2016 Next Fitness Star, Mapule Ndhlovu put us through our paces with a killer full body workout which included my absolute nightmare aka burpees. No pain, no gain right?

A short breather was definitely needed before the winner of the 2017 Next Fitness Star Inge Viljoen took us back to the 80’s with an aerobics inspired workout.

And when we take a breather, we take pictures.

Some dancing inspiration in between workouts.

Last year the yoga session couldn’t take place due to rain, but this year however, the weather played along beautifully and we were able to have a sunset yoga session.

We had found some inner peace, heart rates were back to normal and the stars had come out to join the fun, just in time for a dance fitness session that brought out the sexy goddess in all of us. The last session of the night took our heart rates back up, and definitely living up to it’s name. Pound, the drum inspired workout invented, and led, by Kirsten Potenza from Los Angeles made us all rockstars.

The to die for goodie bag. As if these were not enough, there were spot prizes being given away and yours truly was lucky enough to get another pair of leggings, yay!

We all left the night sweaty, exhausted and only wanting a hot shower and our beds, but it was an amazing night of fun and great workouts and we will be back next year. Will you be joining us?

Thanks for reading, stay healthy.
