The fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance yet again, and who better than the Guardians to save the day, obviously?
Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 sees the return of the gang of outlaws, lead by Peter Quill (Christ Pratt) doing what they do best, a little bit of bad alongside some good. But then again, if they didn’t, they just wouldn’t be the Guardians.
A powerful alien race commissions the Guardians to protect one of their valuable treasures, and everything goes according to plan, well almost. A peaceful moment is but short lived and everything comes tumbling down on the gang when Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) reveals that he just couldn’t keep his grubby little paws to himself.
During their escape from the revenge seeking armada, a stranger reveals himself and Peter’s, and consequently the Guardians’, world is in turmoil and with it the Galaxy.
Witty, sarcastic and comedic comments are in constant supply courtesy of Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) and Rocket and the duo will have you in stitches. Baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) tries to help wherever he cans, but causes more chaos than anything else, but does it in such an adorable manner, you cannot but love him.
Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is ever to the rescue and we do get to see the softer side of her, albeit it only a slight glimpse, before the warrior comes out to play. Some familiar faces return for the sequel and we get to meet some new characters, each with their own unique identity.
Costumes, make up and special effects are out of this world, literally, and if you can watch it in 3D, the effects are so much more invigorating. The only downside would be about half way through the movie where the action takes a bit of a back seat, but this only gives you time to breath before the action continues. And with the movie being over two hours long, you do need a breather in between.
If you are in the mood for a lift-me-up, or not, this is a definite must see movie for any mood.
A word of advice, once the movie is finished, remain seated until the credits, that is all I am saying.
